My story
Why I'm building the Village
There's a particular kind of lonely that only shows up after you have a baby. The house is never quiet, you're never alone, and yet there are whole days where no one asks how you are.
Even the bathroom stopped being mine. I'd sit there with my baby on my lap, scrolling at 3am for an answer to a question I was too tired to phrase properly, finding forums that felt more like arguments than help. What I wanted wasn't more advice. I wanted a room full of women who would look up and say: me too.
Generations of mothers had that. A porch, a kitchen table, a neighbour who took the baby for an hour so you could shower. We were never meant to do this alone — and somehow most of us are.
We were never meant to do this alone.
I'm a stay-at-home mom and I write code in the gaps — nap times, late nights, the ten minutes after the bottle. The Village is what I'm building in those gaps: a calm, warm third space where moms can walk in, ask anything, and be held. Not another feed to keep up with. A place to belong.
I'm building it in public, one day at a time. If you've been following along, thank you. You're already part of it.
